Organ playing
The organ of the Pécs Cathedral was made in the Angster organ factory in Pécs in 1887.
The current organ has 6101 pipes, 81 stops, 4 manuals and operates electrically. One of the very special features of the Pécs instrument is the playback system built into the organ, which can digitally record the sound played by the organist. The system does not record audio, but digitally stores the organ’s mechanical settings and performance data, which means that the pipes themselves play even when the organist is not present. The Pécs invention is attributed to the programmer Zoltán Zidarics.
“Live”; in the case of an organ, the Cathedral’s music director, Ferenc Szilárd Kovács, or an organist he has requested, ensures the playing of the instrument. Therefore, we can undertake the service related to performing artists under certain conditions:
- The request for live organ playing must be announced at least one week in advance before the group’s visit.
- In case of booking a live organ concert, cancellation is possible no later than 24 hours before the start of the program. Failure to do so will result in the payment of the full service fee.
If the service is not cancelled 24 hours prior to the visit, but is still cancelled due to the Customer’s fault or omission, the Customer is obliged to pay the full price of the service!
