Be our guest! Visit the tourist sites of the Bishopric rich in attractions and “rejoice your heart” with a wine tasting!
Wander through the Pannonian wine region, taste the award-winning wines bearing the coat of arms of the Bishopric of Pécs, which are selected from the finest wines of the Villány, Pécs, Szekszárd and Tolna wine regions year after year. The wines are presented by the Bishopric’s sommelier in the old-fashioned cellar of the renovated, 18th-century Granary building.
Grapes and wine have been ancient symbols across human cultures, which Jesus Christ sanctified and deepened by calling himself the vine, his disciples the branches, and calling the wine of thanksgiving his own blood at the Last Supper. The symbolism of the vine and the sacramental role of wine in Christianity created a rich cultural tradition that still shapes Christian wine culture today.
Connect with this tradition: gift your family, friends, and yourself with a wine tasting in a special atmosphere. Choose from our tthree-, four-, or five-wine tastings, which we offer with locally baked scones and soda water, but you can further enrich the taste if you are our guest for a cold cuts platter or an authentic Hungarian farmhouse platter. An alcohol-free alternative is available for children arriving with adults.

The event starts at 5:00 PM each time and ends at approximately 6:30 PM.
Venue Magtár Visitor Center -2nd level.
Price: 7800 HUF/person, which includes wines (5-course wine tasting), traditional savory pastries, soda water.
TICKET PURCHASE:
At the locations of the Diocese of Pécs (Cathedral, Dzsámi, Rózsakert and Magtár Visitor Center ticket offices) and soon available online on our website after the dates are uploaded.
Those under 18 years of age are not allowed to participate in the wine tasting! The wines will be presented by the Bishopric’s sommelier, Renáta Dani, the sommelier of the Bishopric of Pécs.

- • In case of ordering a wine tasting, cancellation is possible no later than 24 hours before the program date. Modification of the number of people is possible no later than 2 hours before the start of the program. Failure to do so will result in payment of the full service fee.
- • We would like to draw the attention of our guests to the fact that due to the design and nature of the venue, the number of seats is limited. Our wine tastings are basically standing occasions, with the exception of programs combined with catering (cold platter, peasant platter).
- • The wine tastings take place in an authentic cellar environment. We ask our guests to come prepared with warmer, layered clothing!
- • The wine tastings take place in the Magtár Rendezvényház. The event house is not a catering unit, and its opening hours are limited. Wine tasting outside opening hours is possible by prior arrangement.
- • The minimum number of wine tastings is 10 people, in case of fewer participants, please inquire about the possibilities at one of the above contacts.
